  2. Connecting to a Canadian Internet Provider
  3. TotalNet Inc.

  5. First you must obtain an Internet account number (User ID and password)  from TotalNet Inc.  Please call 
  6. 1-800-920-SURF or (514) 481-2585.  They will provide information on how to set up an account.

The Apple Internet Connection Kit (AICK) comes with the “Apple Internet Dialer” application which starts the process of allowing you to connect to the Internet.  After you have installed the AICK you can start the application by clicking on the “Dialer” from the “Launcher” (or by double clicking “Apple Internet Dialer”  from the Mac OS Finder).

  10. Once the program has started - select “Define Provider Information”  under “Provider” from the menu bar at the top of your screen.  The following screen will come up.

The “SERVICE PROVIDER ACCOUNT INFORMATION” screen allows you to enter the information required to identify you to TotalNet and the Internet.  Enter the information EXACTLY as show above EXCEPT for the <User Login> and <Password>.  These are unique to your account.  Please enter <User Login> and <Password> EXACTLY as provided by TotalNet Inc..

The “SERVER INFORMATION” screen is detailed information required by the Internet to identify both you and TotalNet Inc.  Enter the information EXACTLY as shown above EXCEPT for your E-Mail Address. Your E-Mail address will have been provided by TotalNet Inc.  You should enter that information into the E-MAIL field EXACTLY as provided by TotalNet Inc.

  83. Once you have finished click the “Next” button in the lower right hand corner to move to the next OPTIONAL screen.  Once you are connected  you will always have to enter your name and password.  You may enter this information manually each time you connect.

  85. The following screen allows you to have your computer automatically enter your name and password information once you have dialed into TotalNet Inc.

The Registration Kit you receive from your Service Provider should indicate whether or not an automated login script is permitted with your service. If it is, complete this screen according to the instructions you receive with your Registration Kit, otherwise click the OK button in the lower right hand corner to complete the installation.  This will save the information you have entered and your Macintosh will restart automatically.  Once you have restarted, click on the Dialer and follow the instructions to connect to the Internet.
